How will the course be held?

“Web Creator Course” is a step-by-step training in a live-stream format, followed by mentorship in a discussion group and with sessions recordings available.

During our live-sessions we will go through the whole process from setting up local environment, creating pages and templates, optimizing performance, detailing the design, moving to hosting and preparing your website to being discovered by search engines.

After each online session, you will have access to:

This is not another generic course about WordPress features, it is a very specific visual way to create specific website using a pre-defined list of tools with step-by-step explanations and additional materials.

In two months, during 16 online lessons of 1.5 hours each, you will learn how to visually create a modern, secure, responsive, scalable and fast website with an attractive homepage, blog, services, search, contact form, improved SEO, and analytics.

  1. Intro Session

    Thursday, 10th of October at 18:30 (GMT+1)

    Introduction. We will get to know each other, briefly go through idea and upcoming sessions of this course. We’ll talk about reasons behind choosing a CMS and website builder, the possibilities of WordPress, and have an open discussion about the process of creating websites and marketing them.

  2. Do Your Research (DYR)

    Saturday, 12th of October at 14:30 (GMT+1)

    Research. We will do our basic research and choose a website idea to create. We will look for references, think about interactions and think ahead about what materials we will need to create the site and what main points we will need to take.

  3. Creating Our First (Local) Website

    Thursday, 17th of October at 18:30 (GMT+1)

    Start. We will install LocalWP and create our first WordPress website on local computer server. We’ll talk about the basics of html and how to think about creating websites so that it doesn’t seem too complicated. We will take a look at the admin panel, talk about the difference between dynamic and static parts of the website and create first few screens using default blocks.

  4. Essential Talk About HTML and CSS

    Saturday, 19th of October at 14:30 (GMT+1)

    Essentials. We will talk about what HTML and CSS are, what is the difference between an HTML tag, class, and id. We will take a look at browser inspector tool, talk about selectors, how and why to use classes, how to combine selectors, what is BEM and how to use it class based approach to make websites more scalable. We will create several more screens, now using professional blocks and CSS classes.

  5. In-depth Templating with UX/UI Design

    Thursday, 24th of October at 18:30 (GMT+1)

    Template customization. We will talk about the basics of user experience and user interface design. We’ll take a closer look at dynamic data and customize fonts, colors, styles of basic elements, as well as create headers, menus, mobile menus, templates for archives and individual blog posts, pages, taxonomies, etc.

  • What do I need to have be able to complete this course?

    You need a computer, two hours of free time twice a week, the ability to use a browser, the ability to install programs (just a few simple programs), some access to the Internet, and a bit of curiosity. That’s it.

    Of course, it would also be nice to have a project in mind so that you can practice alongside the online sessions. But that’s not necessary. You can follow along and come up with a project as you go along.
